The story
It began in fashion
Ellie’s passion for interiors began in fashion. After graduating from Cornell University, she spent several years immersed in ready-to-wear, jewelry design, merchandising, and public relations — years that trained the eye she still designs with: proportion, texture, color, styling, and the way beautiful things look together.
As Michael Robert Construction, her husband Mike Mroz’s residential remodeling and custom home building company, kept growing, its clients kept turning to Ellie with the same questions. Countertops, cabinetry, tile, hardware, lighting, paint, furnishings, finishing details: the decisions that quietly settle whether a house feels like home.
What began organically became MRCxEMD: a husband-and-wife design-build perspective that connects construction, architecture, finishes, and interiors. From there, Ellie Mroz Design grew into a boutique New Jersey interior design firm known for fresh classic interiors, thoughtful selections, and homes that feel unmistakably like the people living in them.

Ellie's team often works in conjunction with her hubby’s design/build full service general contracting firm, putting an expert designer’s eye on selections, details and plans - we call this MRCxEMD. Ellie Mroz Design works alongside Michael Robert Construction to support clients during renovations, additions, remodels, and custom home builds, which means construction and interior design expertise arrive at the same table. The result is a more cohesive home, where architectural decisions, construction details, finishes, and interiors have been talking to each other since the beginning.
