THE STORY
Ellie’s passion for interiors began in the world of fashion. After graduating from Cornell University, she spent several years immersed in ready-to-wear, jewelry design, merchandising, and public relations — experiences that shaped her eye for proportion, texture, color, styling, and the way beautiful pieces come together.
As Michael Robert Construction, her husband Mike Mroz’s residential remodeling and custom home building company, continued to grow, clients began turning to Ellie for help with the design decisions that make a house feel like home: countertops, cabinetry, tile, hardware, lighting, paint, furnishings, and finishing details.
What began organically became MRC x EMD: a husband-and-wife design-build perspective that connects construction, architecture, finishes, and interiors. From there, Ellie Mroz Design grew into a boutique New Jersey interior design firm known for fresh classic interiors, thoughtful selections, and homes that feel deeply personal.

For clients furnishing one room, multiple rooms, or an entire home, EMD manages the design process from concept through installation, including furniture layouts.

For Michael Robert Construction clients renovating, remodeling, additions, or building a custom home, EMD offers construction consulting to guide all selections and finishes.
Styling + Accessorizing
For clients who already have their major furniture pieces in place, EMD offers styling and accessorizing to add the finishing layer to spaces.
THE HUSBAND/WIFE TEAM
Ellie's team often works in conjunction with her hubby’s design/build full service general contracting firm to offer elevated home design with an expert designer’s eye on selections, details and plans - we call this MRC x EMD. Ellie Mroz Design works alongside Michael Robert Construction to support clients during renovations, additions, remodels, and custom home builds. This relationship allows clients to benefit from both construction and interior design expertise. The result is a more cohesive home where architectural decisions, construction details, finishes, and interiors feel connected from the beginning.
