Millburn is a suburban township in the southwest corner of Essex County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township’s population is 20,149. Millburn Township is a full-service community where most residents live in single family homes. Millburn is comprised of the historic Wyoming district, and South Mountain and Millburn Center areas.
Millburn Township, originally part of Elizabethtown and Newark, was granted by Charles II to his brother James in 1664. It became part of Springfield Township in 1793 before separating in 1857 to become an independent township in Essex County, while Springfield joined Union County.

Settled by immigrants from Europe in 1720, Westfield was once a popular trail for the Lenni-Lenape Indians whose heritage remains in the names of many existing streets and parks and residential areas such as Mindowaskin Park, Tamaques Park, Lenape Park, and the Indian Forest residential section.
