SCOTCH PLAINS, NEW JERSEY

Scotch Plains is a Township in Union County, New Jersey with a population of nearly 25,000 residents which encompasses just over 9 square miles at the base of the Watchung Reservation. The township is located on a ridge in northern-central New Jersey, within the Raritan Valley and Rahway Valley regions in the New York metropolitan area.

Scotch Plains, settled in 1684 by Scottish immigrants, was originally a farming community. Native American trails became its main roads. Growth accelerated after Route 22 was built in 1930, attracting city commuters. Post-WWII development replaced farmland with suburbs. Today, over 24,000 residents live here, many commuting to nearby cities. The area retains Revolutionary War landmarks and traces its roots to the Lenape people.

OUR LOCATION

Settled by immigrants from Europe in 1720, Westfield was once a popular trail for the Lenni-Lenape Indians whose heritage remains in the names of many existing streets and parks and residential areas such as Mindowaskin Park, Tamaques Park, Lenape Park, and the Indian Forest residential section.

CHECK OUT WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

My wife and I worked with Michael Robert Construction (MRC) and Ellie Mroz Design (EMD) to build and design our new home. When we began the process we had an inspiration and a few images of what we wanted our new home to look like and they took those ideas and enhanced them greatly into a concrete vision. We could not be happier with the end product from aesthetic, design and quality standpoint.

Working with Ellie & her team was truly a dream come true. The whole process from start to finish was stress free and fun! She has the coolest style and taste of any interior designer today and she and her team are extremely professional and easy to work with. She transformed my front entryway and family room and we are excited to work with her again this year on our dining room and living room. I cannot recommend her enough!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about working with Ellie Mroz and her amazing team. Not only do they have incredible taste, all of the resources, and keep super organized, but they also made the design process so fun and so fast. And when we had some manufacturer errors, because it’s simply inevitable, they took care of everything so quickly and made sure everything was perfect and as intended. I love their work, I love their team and am searching for more projects around the house so I can hire them again ASAP!

Fanwood and Scotch Plains share a top school system. Before 1925, teens went to nearby towns for high school. That year, Park Middle School opened as the first local high school. After WWII's population boom, new schools were built. By 1953, enrollment doubled, leading to a new high school (while Park became a middle school).
